Caring for Stone, Quartz, and Sintered Stone Countertops
Daily Care Essentials
A quick wipe-down each day goes a long way. Use a soft cloth or microfiber towel and a pH-neutral cleaner such as Easy Oxy or Easy Scrub from Beyond Stone Solutions. Both are specially formulated to safely remove everyday grime without leaving streaks or residue.
Always wipe spills as soon as possible — especially acidic ones like wine, citrus, vinegar, or coffee. While quartz and sintered surfaces are less porous than natural stone, prolonged exposure can still lead to staining or dull spots over time.
Do’s and Don’ts
Do use coasters, trivets, and cutting boards to protect from heat and scratches.
Do clean with mild, pH-balanced cleaners designed for stone and engineered surfaces.
Don’t use vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or abrasive pads. These can etch, discolor, or weaken the surface finish.
Don’t drag heavy pots or metal items directly across your countertop.
Sealing and Surface Protection
Natural stone surfaces benefit from sealing to help resist staining. Your countertop may have been sealed during installation, but resealing every few years helps maintain optimal protection.
Quartz and sintered materials typically don’t require sealing, but for extra defense against etching and staining, professional treatments such as Hydroshield (available from Beyond Stone Solutions) provide next-level protection.
